Remembering the Truth – Infatuation and the Power of Love

An important issue to touch on in single relationship counseling is how we can give credit for the love we feel in a new relationship to the other person. And at the same time a remarkable thing occurs when we first fall in love. We become capable of a special perception, that of seeing the spiritual truth of the loved one. We can view their highest, most Divine qualities, perhaps qualities which no else is aware of. There are plenty of jokes and cliches about this phenomenon, which may cause us to discount this perception. Don’t.

Love opens up a level of perceptiveness which cuts through the usual garbage of acquired personality traits, conditioned responses and the wounds of mortal life. These are appearances, not the reality of the individual. The reality of our loved one, is what we see through the eyes of love. We can lose this special vision through familiarity or hurt. That doesn’t alter the facts.

We can allow ourselves to remember this special perception and treat our partner accordingly. We can encourage them to do the same. This is an active faith in the power of love. In metaphysics, we are always interested in uncovering the spiritual truth of any situation. This is no different. As we allow the Truth of our higher level perceptions to take over, we magnetize reality to conform to this perception.

It can be amazing how this works. If you are truly in love with this person and not just in love with love, or in love with the security of a relationship, magical things can occur. Acting from the perception of love attracts benevolence and grace into your lives as a couple.

Allow yourself to remember the special qualities of your partner as you first perceived them. This is so valuable to sustain a long term relationship. Let yourself respond to him/her from this perception. This is a lot of fun as well as being spiritually therapeutic. Enjoy!

Famous Quote: REALITY

“People normally cut reality into compartments, and so are unable to see the interdependence of all phenomena. To see one in all and all in one is to break through the great barrier which narrows one’s perception of reality.”

–Thich Nhat Hanh
