AstroCurrents for July 2008: Part Two - Focus on Enthusiasm, Motivation, and Focus

The Astrological events listed below will affect us all, regardless of your sign.

“Nature arms each man with some faculty which enables him to do easily some feat impossible to any other, and thus makes him necessary to society.”--Ralph Waldo Emerson

July 22 Sun Enters Leo at 3:54 am PDT

This sign is influencing us all while the Sun is in Leo from July 22 until August 22. To read more about how this shift to Leo impacts us all, read Monthly Transit Talk (MTT) for Leo.

The Sun's entry into the sign of Leo brings a time of celebrating Life and the warmth of the Sun's and its life sustaining energy. At the height of Summer we are shown daily reminders of the fact the Light triumphs over darkness.

The themes that arise and get our attention during the Sun's annual 30-day visit in Leo are: what gives you joy, creativity, the arts, sports, children, and the myriad of ways that you are unique and how you contribute to your world.

July 26 Mercury Enters Leo Until 8/10

While Mercury is in Leo our mind naturally turns to those things that increase our enthusiasm for living and are positive in nature. Reading those things that inspire you to do better and to reach a greater level of performance is a good way to tap into the energy available now.

Spending time talking with and listening to children is a natural way to increase your enthusiasm for life. Also, pursuing those things that are creative as the artist in you wants greater expression. Your mind may be entertaining bold, interesting, dynamic ideas during this time.

There are a few things to watch out for, such as being too over bearing or too over confident as when Mercury is in Leo, it is easy to feel that we are pretty much always right and that we can take on anything. One other thing to be aware of is to not get too dramatic or theatrical as you seek to express what your thoughts, opinions or feelings. Toning it down a bit will really make a difference in how others perceive you and get what you are saying or suggesting. If you are feeling bored, seek out constructive ways to entertain yourself!

“Procrastination is the natural assassin of opportunity.”

July 26 Mars Trine Jupiter Retrograde at 15?17' Virgo/Capricorn

This is a very action oriented energy that will be in effect from at least 7/20 to 8/1. You may feel motivated during this time to stop procrastinating and to get going on some project that has been on your list for a while. This very constructive and practical influence will prompt you to stay with things through completion. The ability to concentrate and to stay focused is strong now so use this time to take on those things that require perseverance and stick-to-it-ive-ness. Your skills come to the forefront as you engage this energy.

Further, opportunities may present themselves that you should pay attention to; but know that what appears during this influence may not actually manifest until Jupiter reaches this degree later this Fall, while going direct rather than retrograde as it is now (around the 3rd week of October). So while you may get great ideas and/or are presented with wonderful opportunities now, they most likely with require some development and work between now and then before they actually come into reality.

August 1 New Moon/Solar Eclipse at 9?31' Leo at 3:13 am PDT

[NOTE: Because this is such an important event that many are already feeling, I am including thus event in this July's AstroCurrents.]

During the week (or more) before a Solar Eclipse it is important to pay careful attention to the messages that are trying to come through. This may be in dreams, what you read or just your daily interactions and activities. On the day of a Solar Eclipse and for at least the week after, it is good to consider what those mean to you, and then to act on them. This may be ideas, practices to implement or projects to pursue.

You may well see that progress has taken place by the next Full Moon on August 16, which is also a Lunar Eclipse. Stay open to change and new growth during this time. To the degree that you put forth positive intentions and actions now, you will find greater fulfillment and reward at the Full Moon.

This New Moon/Solar Eclipse in Leo empathizes how self confident and self assured you are when expressing your unique gifts, talents and offerings Use the courage and enthusiasm available now to provide you with the motivation needed to do so. Also, there is a playful and dynamic energy now that can warm the heart.

Some ideas as to how to best use these dynamic energies are:

  • Plant seeds and initiate plans for personal growth and self-expression during this cycle.
  • Focus on those activities that bring you happiness and feelings of childlike joy. Make time to have some fun!
  • Follow your passions~the world awaits your offering and your passions will lead you to them!
  • Generosity of spirit is a Leo quality and the gateway to blessings.
  • Be courageous and fearless.
  • Beware of being arrogant or dramatic.
  • Avoid being critical or judgmental~whether to yourself or others.

Sending you Blessings and Light
