October 27th, 2004 Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio / Taurus at 8:07 pm PDT, 9:07 pm MDT, 10:07 pm CDT, 11:07 pm EDT.
Lunar eclipses often usher in energy that is intense and complex in nature. This is especially true of this one, as it is taking place in the passionate signs of Scorpio and Taurus. With America as polarized as it is over the election, I feel that this eclipse, just days before, will possibly "put things over the top". Lunar eclipses often coincide with a kind of wide spread lunacy. And these energies are quite intense and could contribute to an already volatile time.
Whether this just acts out as a more extreme version of what we have already seen with finger pointing and alarmist fear mongering to a greater extent (could that be possible?), or if it foretells of an actual act of terrorism and wide spread chaos, is hard to say. But things will certainly feel more explosive with a heightened sense of anticipation over the next several days. It is also likely that many will be feeling overwhelmed with all that is going on. It is important to stay grounded and to not go off into extremes during this time.
Personally, it is a time of feeling what it is you really care most about:
- What motivates, fuels, and inspires you?
- How would your life change if you integrated this passion into your consciousness?
- What do you allow to block this?
These are some of the questions that arise at this time. The key to truly growing and benefiting from this process is to make certain it is your essence and your heart and not your ego doing the answering.
There are some other things to beware of at this time. These signs represent the polarity of the zodiac that rules power, as well as any misuse and abuse of power, major confrontations and conflicts and intense discord based primarily on a stubbornness to see another’s point of view. It is here that we are intensely resistant to being open to new ideas and concepts.
Hence, it is advised to make a concerted effort to listen to those around you, even if you don't agree with them. It is a blessing that these two signs are followed by Gemini and Sagittarius, as these signs rule new ideas, open communication, and encourage another's view point. But for now, we are given an opportunity to see if our own passionate beliefs are based in love and compassion or fear and anxiety.
I thought I would include some info on this Wednesday night's Lunar eclipse. It begins at about 5:00 pm PDT, is total at about 8:00 pm PDT and ends at 11:00 pm PDT. Adjust these for your locale and if it is night time during any phase of the eclipse in your area, you will be able to view at least part of it.
What Is A Lunar Eclipse, Anyway?
It adds an element of mystic, if you remember while viewing the Eclipse that the darkness coming over the moon is caused by the shadow of the Earth coming in between the Sun and Moon. Hence, the Earth is blocking the light coming from the Sun to the Moon. This can only occur when the Sun, Moon, and Earth are on the same plane, called declinations. If they are not on the same plane of declination, but the Moon is on one side of the Earth and the Sun on the other (180 degrees apart), then it is a Full Moon, but without an eclipse. Lunar Eclipses can only occur during a Full Moon. Lunar Eclipses occur two or three times a year. Though occasionally, there can be four (as in 1973 and 1991).
So whether you will be able to see it or not, enjoy the special energies of this eclipse!
Many Lunar blessings,
