Massage Techniques: DVDs Teach Complete Reflexology for Foot & Hands

Students interested in holistic healing embrace the easy to understand and extremely effective techniques of reflexology.

As one of the most effective alternative and complementary healing therapies, reflexology is often integrated with basic massage techniques, offering clients a thorough and relaxing treatment session.

The instructional DVDs  Comprehensive Reflexology & Massage: The Foot and Comprehensive Reflexology & Massage: The Hand allows viewers to watch how these basic reflexology and massage techniques can be incorporated and mastered, regardless of level of experience.

Licensed Massage Therapist Teaches Reflexology

Reflexologist Meade SteadmanBoth reflexology training DVDs  feature established massage and reflexology expert Meade Steadman. As a licensed massage therapist, Steadman teaches courses at the Myotherapy College of Utah and the Myotherapy Institute of Massage. His areas of expertise include:

  • Swedish massage, the gentle manipulation of both upper and deeper layers of muscles with the intention of improving their function and relaxation for an overall feeling of well being;
  • sports massage, a specific type of massage designed to alleviate the stresses and strains of an athlete’s body and muscle groups;
  • reflexology, an alternative therapy that stimulates the body’s nerves and systems through various pressure points located on the hands, feet, and ears;
  • hydrotherapy, or the use of water (both hot or cold) to relieve physical pain or to stimulate a general sense of well being;
  • tai chi, physical exercises based on the Chinese philosophy of self-defense and meditation; and
  • various spa specialties relevant to todays holistic wellness students.

Steadman’s comprehensive understanding of the foot and the essential massage and reflexology treatments he specializes in has been featured in several award-winning productions, including The Art & Practice of Stone Massage, Essentials of Swedish Massage, and The Ultimate Face, Scalp, Neck & Shoulder Massage.

Reflexology & Massage Techniques for the Foot

Foot Reflexology DVDIn Comprehensive Reflexology & Massage: The Foot, Steadman demonstrates with professional expertise basic massage strokes and techniques for both the right and left feet. During his demonstrations, Steadman discusses with viewers the basic physiology of the body, in particular the foot’s anatomy in relation to the body.

This two hour instructional video depicts detailed demonstrations of techniques that work the foot and the lower leg to induce not only flexibility, but increased states of relaxation and an overall improvement of the body’s circulation.

Reflexology & Massage Techniques for the Hand

Hand Reflexology DVDIn this two hour DVD, Meade shares instruction for working with both the right and left hands.

In Comprehensive Reflexology & Massage: The Hands the different models he uses provide examples of working with both young and old, and both female and male clients.

Viewers learn how to approach geriatric concerns using reflexology along with techniques for working with the forearm. Meade shows how important it is to understand how to warm up the hands so work extends to the whole body.

Reflexology for Pain Management & Relaxation

These educational DVDs also include discussions of various contraindications. Reflexology is a safe and effective treatment modality for many people with various conditions and pains, but should be used with caution for some people with some degenerative conditions, such as the elderly, people with diabetes, or pregnant women.

The main caution with these cases is not to overwork their conditions. However, as a popular and effective alternative healing therapy, reflexology remains a holistic leader in pain management.

A winner of the 2006 Silver Telly Award, Steadman’s presentation in Comprehensive Reflexology & Massage: The Foot is a great visual presentation of techniques that is suitable for both the massage or reflexology student, as well as the common person interested in methods to expand their self-care regimes.

It’s like I got three videos for the price of one when I ordered Comprehensive Reflexology & Massage: The Hand when you consider how much I learned and how much information was included in this DVD. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in learning reflexology techniques. You will not be disappointed! —Kaylee Barnes

    Sounds interesting, we are in late 70’s, one has Parkinson’s the other heart problems. We are doing well for the shape we are in but maybe there are some simple things we can do to help us along our way. And the cost?
